U.S. international Gio Reyna was handed his first start across all competitions by new Borussia Dortmund manager Niko Kovac on Saturday as the defeated Union Berlin 6-0 in Bundesliga action.
They snapped a two-game losing streak in the domestic league, earning just their second Bundesliga victory since the start of 2025 with a crucial three points courtesy of a four-goal showing from striker Serhou Guirassy, an own-goal from Berlin's Diego Leite and a late dagger from forward Maximilian Beier.
Reyna logged 70 minutes, starting in an attacking midfield role for just his second Bundesliga start of the season, and his 12th league appearance since the start of the campaign.

Reyna was largely ineffective during the match, with just one touch in the opposition box, and 37 overall throughout his appearance. He completed 20 of his 23 passing attempts, while just three of his attempted seven tackles in the midfield were successful.
Dortmund's final four goals were scored after he was substituted off the pitch, as their attack — and namely Guirassy — unleashed the floodgates over the final 20 minutes.
Saturday marked Reyna's first start in over a month, with his last appearance in the XI being in the UEFA Champions League on Jan. 21.
