Reported by the , Onana has been named in the United squad to travel to Craven Cottage and is "in line" to replace Altay Bayindir after the Turkish shot-stopper was heavily criticised for his role in Arsenal's winning goal at Old Trafford on the opening weekend. Both goalkeepers have been named as part of the 21-man travelling squad to face Fulham, though Ruben Amorim has been cryptic over who will start in goal.

Onana has often been criticised throughout his time at United and the Cameroon international's injury this summer during pre-season gave the Red Devils more reason to seek alternatives in goal. But no new signing in the position has been completed as of yet and so the former Inter and Ajax shot-stopper may be given another chance to earn back his place in Amorim's side, after not being deemed fit enough to start on the opening day.

DID YOU KNOW?

Talks with young Belgian goalkeeper Senne Lammens have accelerated in recent days and the Royal Antwerp keeper may arrive to compete with Onana in a £17 million ($23m) deal. This could leave Bayindir squeezed out if that is the case, as Onana is not currently expected to depart Old Trafford this summer.

If given the chance to start at Fulham, Onana will have the perfect opportunity to stake his claim to starting place in the new season before any further reinforcements arrive to compete. United and Amorim will feel that their summer business has improved the squad in an attacking sense, but there is also pressure to improve defensively this season if the club hope to make strides back up the Premier League table.
