Roshane Thomas gushes over Jarrod Bowen’s performance

Roshane Thomas gushed over Jarrod Bowen’s performance during West Ham United’s 3-1 win against Southampton, during a Q&A on The Athletic.

What did he say?

Saturday turned out to be a great day for the Hammers, as they secured the three points that take them out of the relegation zone.

Jarrod Bowen will have been especially delighted, as this was his first start for the Hammers, in which he also secured his maiden goal for the club.

When asked about the 23-year-old’s performance, Thomas replied: “I thought Bowen posed a threat throughout the game. He was man of the match on his full Premier League debut. Not bad at all.

He also went on to add: “I thought Bowen was outstanding today. He was drawing players in, tracking back and had superb work rate. It’s good to be out of the bottom three and now the players need to keep it that way!”

Impressive performance

Bowen was superb against Southampton, with his biggest moment being the goal. He took it very well, touching Pablo Fornals’ pass out of his feet with his right foot, before dinking it out of Alex McCarthy’s reach with his left.

That was not the only encouraging sign from his performance, as his general threat is highlighted by the fact he made two dribbles, one key pass and got two shots on target.

The former Hull City man even made a telling defensive contribution, making more successful tackles than anyone else in the team with four, while also completing one interception and one clearance.

All of this should be very encouraging for David Moyes, as he looks to guide the men in claret and blue away from the relegation zone.

As Thomas said, “it’s good to be out of the bottom three”, Bowen was an important part in ensuring that is the case and he could be integral to keeping it that way.

Meanwhile, Bowen posted on Instagram after his impressive performance.
