The England international forward has been linked with a move away from Brentford since last season with Arsenal or Chelsea being mooted as the two most likely destinations. However, the Gunners have slowly cooled their interest primarily due to the Bees' asking price for the striker, which was initially set at £100 million (€116m/$127m).

Brentford have, however, reduced their demand to £60 million (€69/$76m) heading into the final two weeks of the summer window. Chelsea and Manchester United are now said to be leading the race for the 28-year-old forward – whose current deal expires in 2025 – but neither club is willing to pay his current asking price, according to the Independent.

Both the Red Devils and the Blues are keen on adding an attacker to their squad and are looking for an initial loan deal for Toney with an option to buy next summer. It remains to be seen if the Bees are willing to let their star forward leave on loan, especially after record signing Igor Thiago picked up a serious injury that has ruled him out of the opening months of the new season.
